Cheesegrater Rock
After dinner on the day that we ran Lava Falls, I climbed out onto the rugged lava rock that sits at the base of the famous rapid with my tripod, easing myself over a two foot gap between the rock and safety. The goal was to take shots of the rapid at night, but a moonless sky made it more challenging than anticipated. Still, sitting out in the rapid in the dark, listening to the water roar below me was worth the effort.
